Neuigkeiten zu "Newcam Gunner" (Guiness) & "Derrity Mustard of Balswad"
09.09.2012, Open Cold Game Test, Edwinstowe, Notts (England):
Man wusste nie, welchen Retrieve man bekommen würde. Motto: "Everything can happen!"
"The North Midland Area held an Open Cold Game Test at Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire on 9th September, by kind permission of Mr Robert Bealby. The judges were Mr Steven Crookes and Mrs Anne Crookes, well known in trial circles. The event was generously sponsored by Alpha.
The weather was warm and dry, with a light breeze. The field of sugar beet was bordered by stubble to the west and part of Sherwood Forest to the north. There were three retriever breeds among the 28 entrants. Run under Field Trial rules, the test commenced with a walk-up, two guns in line saluting marked pigeons in front and occasional blinds behind. In the first round dogs were given two marked pigeons, either forward in the beet or towards a hedge on the left flank. A few problems resulted when dogs picked the wrong bird of two down. Proceeding down the field undulating ground made for variety. For the second round the line swung round and walked uphill with a wood to the left. Dogs were given either a blind behind or a diagonal retrieve on the opposite flank.
After lunch the judges called forward 13 dogs for a further walk-up and a more testing longer retrieve, with the guns on a distant left flank. This proved more discriminating. The best six dogs were then asked to sit through a simulated partridge drive, with guns saluting pigeons over a hedgerow. These were diversions and the nominated retrieves were at three distant locations across stubble towards round bales. Taking the correct line and handling at a distance caused problems, and it proved too easy to pick the wrong bird or a diversion. This clarified the result for the judges. The prizes were presented by Life Member John Taylor."
